Anamudi is the highest peak in South India, standing at 2,695 meters above sea level. Located in the Eravikulam National Park, it offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including valleys, forests, and tea plantations. The peak is named after the elephant-like shape of the mountain (Anamudi means “elephant’s forehead” in Malayalam).

Anamudi is an important landmark for trekkers, wildlife enthusiasts, and nature lovers. The peak is home to several rare species, including the Nilgiri Tahr, and offers an opportunity to experience the unspoiled beauty of Munnar’s landscape.

  • Trekking: Anamudi offers one of the most challenging treks in Kerala. However, the trek is not open to the public directly, and you need to obtain permission from the Kerala Forest Department for trekking to the peak.
